Tell Me Something I Don't Know: Almost half of...
By: Rachel Metter
A recent study conducted by CNBC and the Associated Press polled 1,000 Americans over the age of 18 to see whether they thought that Facebook would be around for many years to come. About 46% of participants think that Facebook will fade away as other technologies and social media platforms arise. I’m gonna take a wild guess that Zuckerberg doesn’t “like” this.

By: Derek Rush
In Steven Spielberg’s 1982 classic Sci-Fi movie ET: The Extra-Terrestrial, the main character, Elliot, uses a trail of candy to lure the alien and gain his trust. Originally the candy was to be M&M’s, but the Mars candy company found the ET character so ugly, they refused to allow their product to be used. Instead, Reese’s Pieces appear in the film. Sales for Reese’s Pieces...

Tell Me Something I Don't Know: It's always 10:10...
By: Kati Schultheis
In ads featuring watches, most have the time set to 10:10, and it’s no coincidence—since the brand name is generally at the top, the hands of the watch frame the brand name. Plus the upward facing hands of the clock convey a positive aesthetic—some even say making a subconscious smiley face. Source

Tell Me Something I Don't Know: Human Beings Can't...
By: Alyssa Birnbaum
You may believe that you can seamlessly research “rare Antarctic penguins” while scheduling a dentist appointment while mountain biking. Turns out, you can’t. And that’s not just because there’s no wireless in the rocky terrain in South Lake Tahoe.
Humans aren’t wired to multitask. Instead, our brains switch from task to task very quickly. We actually can’t focus on more...

60 % of the 111 million people watching the SuperBowl were interacting with a 2nd screen at the same time. And what were they doing? Tweeting, Facebooking and interacting with various other platforms/applications. Coca Cola was prepared for this and they made sure you were playing with their brand even on your second screen. The Reason We Share So Much
By: Pharyl Weiner
Despite what some might say, social media success is not a fluke. And people aren’t sharing what they think about last night’s Rangers game because it’s the “in” thing to do. They’re doing it because sharing thoughts and opinions – i.e. talking about ourselves – has the same effect on the brain as eating a steak at Del Frisco’s or finding money on the street.
When a person...

By: Pharyl Weiner
If you’re celebrating Cinco de Mayo with tequila tomorrow, there’s something you should know. Not all tequila comes with worm in tow – only certain mezcals. So, if the thought of drinking worm residue makes your stomach churn, have no fear. Your frozen strawberry margarita is probably safe.

Designer Sushi
By: Ellen Pratt
When one thinks of the seemingly limitless number of advertisements, products, and brands that an ad agency can put their design stamp on, nori rarely comes to mind.
However, in an attempt to respark the sale of nori (seaweed used for wrapping sushi) following the 2011 tsunami in Japan, international agency I&S BBDO was commissioned to develop “designer sushi”. The results...

Apparently Cyndi Lauper is not too outdated to be the Grand Marshal of the Derby Festival’s oldest event—the 57th annual Pegasus Parade. If you’re headed down to Louisville today, you may spot her marching down Broadway, sipping a mint julep and belting her funky heart out. C’mon guys, she just wants to have fun!

By: Rachel Metter
Pizza has been around for more than one thousand years and has been prepared and enjoyed as a part of both Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine. The term “pizza” first appeared in a Latin text from the southern Italian town of Gaeta in the year 997AD.
